Bounce Back Exercise Tips After Having a Baby

We’ve rounded up some tips on how to get back into shape after pregnancy, so once you’ve got the go ahead from your doctor you can begin working towards getting back into shape.

Start Small

You’ve most likely decreased your exercise as your pregnancy progressed and have spent the past few weeks snuggled with your baby and enjoying the new-born phase.

Don’t expect to jump straight into a hectic workout regime.

To make it more manageable and easier to stick to, start with slow small sessions and slowly work your way up as you regain strength

Focus on Quantity Not Quality

A newborn baby means you don’t have a lot of time to fit in hour-long exercises. Instead of focusing on the length of the workout, focus on the quality.

Shorter, higher quality exercise routines will be more effective and efficient at helping you bounce back.

Short HIIT workouts can be squeezed in when you have less than 30 minutes to train.

Eat Smartly

Bouncing back is not only about exercise, but also about what you’re eating. Choose whole foods like fruits, veggies, lean protein and whole grains.

For snacks, keep cut up veggies and some hummus in the fridge for a healthy and filling snack or choose minimally processed snack bars to tide you over until your next meal.

Nutritious meal choices will make you feel better and give you more energy.

When you’re running low on time to make a nutritious meal, instead of grabbing another snack try an easy shake like the Slender Shake Meal Replacer.

Be Flexible

Allow for changes in your schedule. A newborn baby means you may not be able to exercise every day.

Your eating habits may also take a hit on tough days.

Be kind to yourself and allow those days to pass, focusing on getting back on track the following days.

Instead of getting stuck into working out at a certain time, decide on how many days a week you’ll work out and fit those in whenever you can.

Incorporate Your Baby Into Exercise

Exercise doesn’t have to be a gym routine, it can be something simple like a 30-minute walk around your neighborhood.

Strap your little one in a stroller, and head outdoors for some exercise and fresh air with your baby.
